Los Angeles Archbishop to Address Intercultural Understanding within the Catholic Church
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez will share his insights and unique perspective on the topic of diversity and intercultural concerns in the Catholic church at "Building Bridges Through Intercultural Competency: A Symposium on the Future of Education and Ministry in the Church" on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Loyola Marymount University.
This half-day event will feature discussions on diversity and the practice of communicating effectively and appropriately with people of other cultures. Panelists will include experts working in Catholic education and other ministries in Southern California and throughout the United States. Another major topic will be the role of women religious in reaching out to, and bonding with, community members from different cultural backgrounds.
The symposium, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., is co-sponsored by LMU's School of Education and Catholic Extension, a national organization that provides funding to 94 U.S. dioceses.
