Lookout Teams with Ingram Micro to Distribute Mobile Security Solutions to the Enterprise Channel
Ingram Micro will offer and support Lookout's portfolio of products throughout North America to address the growing and critical need for mobile security
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Lookout, the global leader in securing mobility, has entered into a strategic alliance with Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), a Fortune 100 company that delivers a full spectrum of global technology and supply chain services to businesses around the world. This agreement allows Ingram Micro channel partners access to Lookout's Mobile Threat Protection security solution and future Lookout products that leverage its comprehensive intelligence and understanding of the mobile threat landscape.
"Every mobile workforce faces security challenges," said Eric Kohl, executive director, Advanced Solutions, Ingram Micro. "Delivering a compelling, differentiated security solution that embraces mobility, rather than restricts it, provides Lookout's channel partners with a services advantage enterprises value and businesses will rely on."
Employee access to corporate data via mobile devices has grown significantly in the last few years, and it continues to rise. Today, employees likely have mobile access to email and a few business-related apps, like CRM or expenses. But with enterprise app development exploding, workers will soon be using mobile devices to consume, create, and share just as much, if not more, enterprise data, than they do on their laptops or desktops. In fact, IDC predicts that "IT spending on mobility-related products, projects, and initiatives will grow from 25 percent of IT budgets in 2015 to 40 percent of large (>1,000 employees) enterprise IT budgets in 2018."1 Forward-looking companies, including Ingram Micro, recognize this surge in mobility and are teaming with Lookout to offer channel partners the security measures necessary to effectively protect enterprise data that is accessed via mobile devices.
"Although our flagship enterprise product, Lookout Mobile Threat Protection, launched in June 2015, we began recruiting distributors, systems integrators, and VARs several months in advance to ensure delivery on our promise to sell our enterprise products 100 percent through the channel from day one," said David Helfer, VP of Worldwide Channel Development and Inside Sales, Lookout. "We've been successful in securing these relationships because this channel-first go-to-market strategy fosters tremendous bi-directional value between the Lookout team and our alliance partners."
Lookout's devoted go-to-market channel model indeed sets it apart from many SaaS providers, who often launch with a direct sales model and struggle to recruit channel partners at a later date. The Lookout approach creates trust with channel partners, provides access to important services and integration skills within the channel, offers a route into new customers, and gives Lookout the flexibility to align with the business models of different partner types.
Lookout Mobile Threat Protection allows large enterprises to embrace mobility in the workplace while protecting company data, securing against malicious attacks, and maintaining compliance with security policies through effective risk management. Lookout's tremendous success in the consumer market has enabled it to assemble a dataset of the world's mobile code to track threats from known attackers and predict new, never-before-seen threats. Lookout Mobile Threat Protection extends this predictive security platform to the enterprise, helping organizations anticipate and defeat mobile threats.
