Lone Star Overnight Announces Delivery from Dallas/Fort Worth to California
Six-week test, offering transit times faster than competitors', will determine if carrier adds permanent service to California
AUSTIN, Texas, March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning in mid-April, Lone Star Overnight (LSO) will launch a six-week test of shipments from Dallas/Fort Worth to California, with better transit times and value than the global small package carriers. This trial service, part of the carrier's new LSO Plus offering, aims to serve businesses who ship packages for 2nd or 3rd day delivery or who want faster service to California than their current ground transit times. Partnering with the leading regional carrier serving the western United States, OnTrac, LSO will provide DFW customers a one- to two-day transit time advantage at very competitive rates.
"Our success in our current markets plus our long relationship with OnTrac has put us in an opportunistic expansion mode," said LSO President Rick Jones. "This LSO Plus test will allow us to evaluate demand for shipments between these two most populous states. If our DFW area customers take full advantage of using LSO Plus for their California shipments, we will make this a permanent offering and roll out to additional LSO origin cities."
The twenty-one-year-old carrier encourages its customers who want faster shipments to California at competitive prices to participate in this limited-time test. The DFW to California service starts on April 12 and runs through May 31st. Customers in the DFW area can sign up to ship by going to www.lso.com and clicking on the banner promoting these shipments. LSO will announce in June whether they will make the service permanent.
