London Mayor Boris Johnson To Speak At MIPIM 2013

PARIS, Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is returning to MIPIM for the fourth time and will address delegates at a plenary MIPIM conference in the Palais des Festivals' Grand Auditorium, on Tuesday, March 12.

The emblematic leader of London last attended MIPIM in 2011 when he delivered a keynote address on regeneration in the British capital, as part of the build-up to the successful 2012 London Olympic Games.

"London is a premium investment target for international real estate and the presence of the Mayor at MIPIM will allow participants to get his insight on London's development and post-Olympic Games challenges and opportunities," noted MIPIM Director Filippo Rean.

Many London City projects will be presented at MIPIM this year, including the One Nine Elms project, two residential towers that occupy a prominent location on London's riverside at the heart of a new tall building cluster emerging at Vauxhall, and Sixty London, 19,510 m² commercial office development being undertaken by AXA Real Estate, which is located on Holborn Viaduct, at the western edge of the City of London.

In addition to Boris Johnson, more than 200 key international political leaders are expected at MIPIM this year, representing cities, regions and national governments.

For the fifth consecutive year, MIPIM is also organizing the Mayor's Think Tank - a closed-door meeting during which mayors and representatives of over 60 local authorities from 20 countries will debate on the following theme: "Local authorities' perspectives and opportunities for the next decade. What are the measures of attractiveness and competitiveness?''

In addition, several sessions on urban development will be organized this year, including 'UK: the future of city funding' on 13 March at 4 PM and 'Real estate and changing society: ideas for the city of tomorrow' on 13 March at 4.45 PM.
