NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, in honor of national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lokai, a socially responsible lifestyle brand representing the importance of finding balance along life's journey, announced a new limited edition Breast Cancer Lokai bracelet – available from September 30th – October 31st 2016.
Launched in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer through research, one dollar of each Breast Cancer Lokai purchased will support BCRF's fight against the disease. Dr. Heather McArthur is the beneficiary of Lokai's 2016 grant. Dr. McArthur is studying an immune-based therapeutic strategy that includes stimulation of an individual's immune system to improve breast cancer outcomes for all tumor types.
Lokai will launch the "I Wear This Lokai For…" social campaign for the month of October urging customers to share the names of people who inspire them in the fight for a cure. The Lokai community will also be encouraged to tell their personal stories about how the illness has touched them – sharing their photos on Instagram using the hashtag #livelokai.
"For years, people have worn the pink ribbon to show their solidarity for breast cancer. We hope that the Breast Cancer Lokai is able to function as a symbol of support and a reminder to stay hopeful, like a ribbon on your wrist," said Steven Izen, Founder and CEO of Lokai. "It is an honor to partner with an organization that has been involved in every single major breakthrough in breast cancer since 1993, and we know that our strong and committed community will be inspired to give back to this cause that touches so many."
"Lokai's commitment to give back stems from an ethos that closely resembles our own at BCRF," said Myra Biblowit, President of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "We know that we can make change through research—but that research relies on us all. By uniting with BCRF, Lokai is supporting the brightest minds in science and reaffirming that together, we can be the end of breast cancer."
The limited-edition Lokai will be sold exclusively at Lokai.com and in retail stores for $18.
Since its launch in 2013, Lokai has raised over six million for a variety of non-profit organizations worldwide. This partnership with BCRF represents the newest chapter in the brand's ongoing commitment to give back.
