DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LoJack Corporation (NASDAQ: LOJN) today announced that the recovery of a stolen 2002 Toyota 4Runner SR5 equipped with a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System recently led North Carolina law enforcement to bust a large chop shop operation involving 24 stolen vehicles, four wrecker trucks and stolen parts from at least 50 vehicles. One person was arrested and charged in connection with the case, which remains under investigation.

Officers with the Durham Police Department located the chop shop operation by using their LoJack Police Tracking Computers to track the stolen Toyota 4Runner, which was recovered on September 25. The stolen vehicle was located at a 25,500 square foot warehouse complex on Ellis Road in Durham. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the warehouse and found additional vehicles and parts, which have been confirmed as stolen from North Carolina, Texas and New Jersey.
This incident once again demonstrates the superiority of LoJack's technology in stolen vehicle recovery, as the system doesn't require a line of sight to the sky and can penetrate warehouses and other buildings. Additionally, LoJack's direct integration with police helps law enforcement recover not only vehicles, but bust major theft rings and arrest the thieves behind these and other more serious crimes.
