NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As enterprise organizations move toward a service-defined IT strategy, IT pros are daring to ask themselves a simple question: "What if?" The introduction and acceptance of the cloud coupled with CIOs' desire to run more efficient service-led operations has led to unprecedented change in the way IT services are consumed and delivered. As a leader in cloud solutions, Logicalis, an international IT solutions and managed services provider (www.us.logicalis.com), has answered its clients' "what if" questions with an increasingly competitive array of cloud offerings designed to help CIOs and other IT pros create and manage a service-defined enterprise, including two new cloud offerings announced today: Cloud Storage for Backup and a Multi-Cloud Management Portal.
Cloud Storage for Backup
To use Cloud Storage for Backup, Logicalis integrates a cloud storage gateway appliance into a client's existing backup installation, allowing the client to quickly back up mission-critical data to the cloud where it is not only safely protected and stored off-site, but where it is much more easily retrieved. Available as a service through a monthly subscription, using cloud storage for backup can reduce archival costs by up to 30 percent over using traditional tape storage methods.
"Logicalis' Cloud Storage for Backup is something customers have told us they want, and we're providing it on an affordable monthly subscription basis," says David Kinlaw, Practice Manager, Data Protection and Availability Services, Logicalis US. "The solution is cost-effective, more convenient than tape for retrievals, and most importantly, does not require the client to make any significant changes to their existing backup solution to enable it to work. It is an appliance that can be implemented seamlessly, and it's a solution that can provide immediate IT cost-reducing and long-term archival benefits to the client organization."
Multi-Cloud Management Portal
While every cloud provider likes to believe their clients are loyal users, the truth is that most customers have purchased a variety of different cloud solutions to meet their varied needs, and not all of those solutions reside in a single cloud with a single vendor. This makes management of these virtual resources difficult, and for CIOs moving toward a services-defined model, ease of management is the key to success. Built on a VMware platform, Logicalis' new multi-cloud management portal is a way for clients to see all of their cloud resources, upload and control virtual machines, view their data loads and what that costs them each month, see their resource usage – it puts all of their pertinent cloud data in one place.
"With our Multi-Cloud Management Portal, we have solved the challenge of managing cloud services in a single spot," says Brian Day, Senior Director of Cloud Services, Logicalis US. "Our clients have told us they want to have a single point of reference from which to manage data stored in our cloud, in other clouds, and in their own on-premise environments. Through our considerable expertise in managed services, we are able to help them manage their infrastructure whether that infrastructure is physical or virtual or both, whether it resides in our cloud environment or on someone else's cloud. This is something we've heard clients talk about, something they've been struggling with for some time, and we've developed a solution that will meet their needs."
In addition, Logicalis has a number of other cloud services, including its own multi-tenant managed cloud, a multi-tenant self-service "on demand" cloud, and a Logicalis-hosted private cloud, all designed to give clients the ability to define and consume their cloud strategy in the way that makes the most business sense.
