Loganville building - originally built as funeral home - to sell in April 18 auction
LOGANVILLE, Ga., March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- An eight-year-old Loganville building originally built as a funeral home will sell at auction Friday, April 18, with John Dixon & Associates managing the sale.
The former funeral home on Highway 81 South in Loganville was originally commissioned in 2006 by longtime funeral home operator Tom M. Wages Sr., who died before it was completed. The property is now being sold by the executors of the estate.
"This could be operated as a funeral home, but it would also be excellent for a church, or for a public or private school," said John Dixon, president of the auction company. "With well over 31,000 square feet, it has plenty of space for offices and classrooms, as well as the large room formerly used as the funeral chapel. Someone could have this in full operation in very little time, most likely at a fraction of the cost of building something similar."
Also selling in the auction will be a 44.7-acre tract with frontage on Highway 81 and Youth-Monroe Road, as well as a 2.9-acre tract at the corner of Highway 81 and Youth-Monroe Road. The larger land tract includes a scenic pond.
"The land fronting on Highway 81 and Youth-Monroe has a lot of potential as a location for retail or office buildings," said Dixon. "The land behind the former funeral home also is suitable for development and currently is zoned B-1 and B-2. If someone bought all three tracts, they could possibly use it for office buildings or other commercial uses and provide access from either road," he said.
The auction will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the property, 1949 Highway 81 South, Loganville. John Dixon & Associates personnel will be available at the property to guide inspections and provide details from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 17.
