KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, Lockton Companies has been named a When Work Works Award recipient for implementing effective workplace strategies to increase business and Associate success. Lockton is the world's largest privately held, independent insurance broker.
This prominent award, given to Lockton's Kansas City operation, is part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute (FWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), which recognizes employers of all sizes and types across the country.

Lockton offers paid volunteer hours to support Associates' philanthropic contributions to their communities, workplace flexibility, and a bolstered parental leave program with up to 12 weeks of paid leave for births and adoptions. The award is the result of a two-part assessment. After organizations qualify in the top 20 percent in a US-representative sample of employers, Associates then evaluate the company on six criteria of an effective workplace: opportunities for learning; a culture of trust; work/life fit; supervisor support for work success; autonomy; and satisfaction with earnings, benefits and opportunities for advancement — all factors associated with employee well-being and engagement. Lockton's high Associate scores speak greatly to what they value in a workplace and evidence Lockton is listening to its Associates.
