DENVER, July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Lockton Associates received national and regional honors at the American Society of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition, 'Safety 2011,' June 12-15 in Chicago, IL, as ASSE celebrated its 100th anniversary. The 100 year-old ASSE has more than 34,000 occupational safety, health and environmental professional members worldwide.

Lori Severson, Loss Control Consultant, was named Healthcare Safety Professional of the Year. Severson received the award based on her involvement with ASSE's Healthcare Practice Specialty as voted on by peers and ASSE leadership. Over the past year, she has hosted webinars, contributed articles to the Healthcare Practice Specialty's newsletter and presented several times at ASSE's Professional Development Conference. Severson has more than 23 years of experience in the safety field and 10 years in the healthcare field. She has been involved with the ASSE for 22 years and joined the Healthcare Practice Specialty in 2009.
Christine Sullivan, Vice President of Risk Control Services at Lockton in Denver, was honored as one of the '100 Women Making a Difference in Safety'. Sullivan has been an active member of the ASSE for more than 15 years and was recognized for her efforts to raise awareness about the importance of workplace safety. She has held numerous ASSE chapter offices and was also named Council on Practices and Standards Safety Professional of the Year in 2008. As part of ASSE's 100th anniversary, Sullivan's profile, along with the other honorees, will be compiled into a single publication and will be released later this year.
Mark Semonisck, Assistant Vice President and Senior Loss Control Consultant for Lockton in Denver, was named ASSE Region II Safety Professional of the Year. Semonisck was recognized at the Colorado chapter level before receiving the Region II award. There are eight ASSE regions, each containing 15 to 20 chapters. The annual award is voted on by peers and is given to the recipient based on contributions to service and leadership within their regions. Semonisck has been involved with the ASSE for more than 30 years and served as Colorado chapter president from 2006 – 2007. This year he was a speaker at ASSE's PDC, 'Safety 2011,' in Chicago, IL. He is also active in the Denver Local-Regional Construction Industry Safety Community.
