Lockheed Martin Supports New USO Welcome Center in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is a major sponsor of the new United Services Organization (USO) Welcome Center in Orlando, which officially opens today at the Orlando International Airport.
In the months and years ahead, Lockheed Martin will support the center with thousands of volunteer hours provided by its employees who embrace the company's maxim, "We never forget who we're working for."
More than 700,000 active duty troops, veterans and their families fly in and out of Orlando International Airport each year, and the 3,400 square foot Welcome Center is one of the USO's largest. Officials project that some 10,000 service members and their dependents will use the center each month.
"Lockheed Martin and the USO have a longstanding legacy of support to the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families," said Jon Rambeau, vice president at Lockheed Martin. "We're excited to continue that legacy in supporting a flagship center that makes their lives and travel a little easier."
Lockheed Martin has a large presence in Central Florida, which is home to major operations of its Missiles and Fire Control and Rotary and Mission Systems business areas. Together, they have more than 7,000 employees in Orlando who provide a wide range of products and services to support the U.S. military and its allies.
Lockheed Martin supports USO programs and facilities in communities throughout the United States, including career transition workshops, holiday box and care package programs, and local USO centers. Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed Martin's chairman, president and CEO, serves on the USO's national Board of Governors.
