GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The CMMI® Institute has recognized Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS), with its highest maturity rating.
The Maturity Level 5 rating was achieved after a rigorous, third-party Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) for Development, Version 1.3 appraisal focused on the company's critical large development and operations programs and businesses processes.
The U.S. federal government often uses CMMI® level and similar accreditations in evaluation of contract proposals.
"Our federal government customers turn to us to help address some of the most critical and complicated technology issues required to defend our nation, facilitate commerce and deliver citizen services," said Sondra Barbour, executive vice president, IS&GS. "This accreditation is an illustration of our commitment to quality and to delivering results for the government and the public."
CMMI® is a process improvement framework that guides organizations to high performance operations, frequently used by technology and software development companies. CMMI® Level 5 is the highest designated maturity level, indicating that an organization not only has defined and controlled processes for technology development, but are also optimized for continuous improvement.
The IS&GS appraisal was performed by The Process Company and completed in October.
