Lockheed Martin Announces Two Key Communications Posts
BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has announced the promotions of two executives within its communications organization.
Jennifer M. Whitlow, now serving as director of the corporation's Global Community Outreach organization, will become vice president of Worldwide Media Relations. She succeeds Nettie Johnson, who was named vice president of communications for the Information Systems & Global Solutions business area in January. Also, Anne Marie Squeo, who currently leads communications for the company's Mission Systems & Sensors (MS2) unit, based in Washington, D.C., will become vice president of communications for the corporation's Electronic Systems business area. Squeo succeeds Peter A. Harrigan, who plans to leave the company under the Voluntary Executive Separation Program announced late last year. Both appointments are effective Feb. 1.
Whitlow, 38, who will serve as chief spokesperson for the corporation, joined Lockheed Martin in May of 2010 from United Technologies Corporation (UTC) where she was director of external communications. Previously, she served in that same role for UTC's Pratt & Whitney unit. Whitlow has also held leadership positions with subsidiaries of The Boeing Company and Cessna Aircraft Company. She began her career with the National Air Transportation Association as a specialist in government and industry affairs. She holds a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master's from Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business.
Squeo, 43, brings broad experience and an outstanding record of success to her new position. Since joining Lockheed Martin in 2009, she has successfully led all communications activity for MS2, supporting such critical programs as the Littoral Combat Ship and the Aegis system. Previously, she served as the director of public relations at Raytheon for three years. Squeo began her career as a journalist, first with Bloomberg News and later as a staff writer at the Wall Street Journal, reporting on military- and defense-related issues, among other topics. In 2000, she was part of a team of reporters that won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on remaking the military for the 21st Century. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from St. John's University and a master's in journalism from New York University.
