Lockard Appointed Director Of AFSCME District Council 86
NEW COLUMBIA, Pa., March 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new leader has been selected to head the North Central branch of the largest public employee union in Pennsylvania.
At a board meeting on Tuesday, March 12, the executive board of District Council 86 of AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, voted unanimously to appoint Corey Lockard to the position of Director effective immediately.
"Corey's dedication and experience with AFSCME will help to keep Council 86 moving forward", said David Fillman, Executive Director of Council 13, the Pennsylvania division of AFSCME that represents more than 65,000 employees.
"I would like to thank Executive Director Fillman and the executive board of Council 86 for having the faith and confidence in me to fill this position," said Lockard. "I'm excited to continue what Acting Director Joe Rowe has established recently in moving Council 86 forward with the great staff, executive board and members that we have." Lockard began his work in public service in 1999 at Bloomsburg University where he was an active union member from his first day of employment eventually serving as a steward, chief shop steward and executive board member. He was hired as a Staff Representative with District Council 86 in April of 2003.
