"Without help from volunteers in the public and private sectors, St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance would not be able to distribute as many as 40,000 emergency food boxes each month and more than 74 million pounds of food in a single year," said Terry Shannon, president and CEO of St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance. "The monetary donation from Phusion Projects will allow St. Mary's to distribute food for 35,000 meals into the community, and their volunteer efforts at our Knight Transportation Center helped put meals on the table for some of the more than 20 percent of Arizonans who fight food insecurity on a daily basis."
St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, the world's first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry. Serving 13 of Arizona's 15 counties, the organization is committed to volunteerism, building community relationships and improving the quality of life for Arizonans in need.
"Phusion Projects' local volunteer efforts are important and meaningful to our identity as a company and to the community," said Jeff Wright, one of the company's co-founders who participated in the volunteer effort. "We enjoyed This is Phusion Projects' ninth food bank volunteer day and donation in 2011. The initiative will continue once a month throughout the year in select communities.
