CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- LMC, a leader in apartment development and management, today announced the groundbreaking of The Ellis, a luxury mixed-use apartment community in Uptown Charlotte, the city's central business district.
The Ellis, being developed in conjunction with Hoar Construction, will feature 549 apartment homes contained within a midrise and high-rise building. The community will also offer 19,654 square feet of retail space. The midrise building will consist of 184 homes and the high-rise will include 365 homes, including 23 luxury penthouse layouts. First move-ins at The Ellis are projected for late 2020.
"The Ellis will offer a broad range of floorplans, presenting various lifestyle options from studios to penthouses," said Jeff Harris, division president of the Carolinas for LMC. "As the only new apartment community north of Trade Street since 2012, we believe The Ellis will be uniquely positioned to complement the historically residential First and Fourth Wards with close proximity to employment, dining and entertainment venues within Uptown.
Situated at 512 North College Street, The Ellis will feature pedestrian access to the central business district, commuter-friendly access to the 9th Street Station of the Charlotte light rail and direct access to the Charlotte Rail Trail for pedestrian and recreational access. The community will also sit within close proximity to several neighborhood attractions, including 7th Street Public Market, The Epicenter, UNC Charlotte's Uptown Campus, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, The Music Factory and First Ward Park. In addition, sporting venues including Spectrum Arena, Bank of America Stadium and BB&T Stadium are all conveniently located nearby.
Notable employers in the area include Bank of America, Avid Exchange, Wells Fargo, Duke Energy, Ally Bank and Honeywell. The area is also home to a variety of dining options, including The Cellar at Duckworth's, Rock Bottom Brewery, The Capital Grille, Basil Thai, Sabor Latin Street Grill, 204 North Kitchen and Cocktails, Stoke Charlotte, Sea Level and Luce.
The Ellis will offer studio, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartment homes ranging from 531 to 2,669 square feet. Apartment interiors will be furnished with quartz countertops, Whirlpool appliances, Moen fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, luxury vinyl-tile flooring, subway tile backsplashes and ceramic tile surrounds in bathrooms. Select homes will include kitchen islands with pendant lighting, wine fridges, walk-in closets with custom closet organization systems, and walk-in showers. Penthouse layouts will be equipped with smart-home technology and Jenn-Air appliances.
Community amenities in the midrise building will include co-working spaces, a transit lounge adjacent to the light rail, a saline pool with cabanas, outdoor fireplace, bar overlooking First Ward Park, fitness center with motivational wall overlooking the pool courtyard, community room with bar, and a separate lounge area with billiards and additional games. Common-area features in the high-rise will consist of a 33rd-floor amenity deck with heated saline pool, cabanas, outdoor fireplace and kitchen, covered lounge area with TVs, fitness center overlooking the park, private dining room, game room, library and an outdoor expansion area for fitness and yoga.
