LiveTV Launches 'Pimp My Magnastar' Campaign
Service Upgrades Magnastar™ Platform to Enable iPhone® & iPad® Connectivity
MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- LiveTV Airfone is expanding its BB On Board (BOB) product to include BlackBerry, iPhone®, and iPad® consumer hardware. Dubbed "Pimp my Magnastar™," the LiveTV product upgrades the Magnastar™ service with an onboard Wi-Fi for onboard connectivity. Crew and passengers can connect their smartphones with unlimited airtime at a low flat rate per month price. A key benefit of the BOB service includes simple plug and play hardware with no installation or aircraft downtime required by owners and operators. Installation is so simple that free trials are available within 48 hours on customers' aircraft outfitted with Magnastar™.
The BB On Board (BOB) product launched in August 2009 through LiveTV's Magnastar™ nationwide network. Until now, the solution has only allowed BlackBerry® enabled Wi-Fi smartphones to operate over the system. iPhones® and now iPads® have been a top request from our customers over the past several months.
"The product is not for everyone," says Mike Moeller, VP of Sales for LiveTV Airfone. "For those that want broadband for surfing and streaming video, many expensive solutions exist. But if a customer just wants to make his smartphone email and messaging work, there is no cheaper end-to-end solution in the marketplace."
