LiveSafe Releases New Version Of Popular SafeWalk Feature
SafeWalk 2.0 sends hands-free smart alerts and allows users to enter destinations
ARLINGTON, Va., May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LiveSafe, Inc., the world's leading mobile safety communications platform, has released SafeWalk 2.0, an enhanced version of its peer-to-peer location tracking and communication feature. The new version was announced at Ellucian Live 2016 in Denver.
Utilizing GPS-enabled location technology, SafeWalk allows users to virtually walk family, friends and colleagues home or to another location by monitoring their location on a real-time map.
More than 100 new universities signed up for a branded version of SafeWalk at Ellucian Live, a conference that discussed the changing landscape of technology and the role it plays in higher education.
"SafeWalk is one of our most popular features because it allows people to feel secure knowing someone they trust is keeping track of them," LiveSafe CEO Carolyn Parent said. "With the latest version, we've made many enhancements that all of our users will find useful and improves the level of security SafeWalk provides."
Among the new features available in SafeWalk 2.0:
- Users can enter a final destination and breadcrumbs show the route the user has taken during their SafeWalk session.
- Based off initial location and intended destination, hands-free smart alerts are sent if the user doesn't arrive at the intended destination by the estimated time of arrival. Alerts are also sent when the user has arrived and if the user has summoned for help.
- Users can quickly summon help from their organization or 911 with the tap of a button.
- SafeWalk offers web viewing, so someone keeping track of a user doesn't need the LiveSafe app to monitor, allowing users to start SafeWalk sessions faster.
