littleBits Introduces Hall of Fame Kits at a New, Accessible Price Point
The Four New Kits are Aimed at Recruiting Young Inventors to the Brand
NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today littleBits, the electronics company that empowers kids to be inventors, announced the award-winning brand will be adding a line of Hall of Fame Kits comprised of four new littleBits projects at an entry price point of $39.99 each. These new kits will be on display at the 2018 North American International Toy Fair® at booth 3263.
"We're eager to bring more kids into STEM and to the littleBits platform by lowering the price of entry to the brand with the new Hall of Fame Kits," said Ayah Bdeir, founder & CEO of littleBits. "We're constantly amazed by the creativity of our littleBits community and wanted to pay tribute to them by taking inspiration from littleBits inventions created by our amazing fans."
littleBits is lowering the barrier of entry to invention with this accessible price point and entry-level experience, aimed at recruiting first-time inventors. By sourcing inspiration from littleBits' existing community of kid inventors, four tried-and-true inventions are being introduced to fuel the invention movement by getting even more kids creating, playing, and inventing. All four kits can be combined, as littleBits electronic blocks work together, to create even larger inventions. Kits from littleBits' Hall of Fame line include:
- littleBits Crawly Creature Hall of Fame Kit: With the Crawly Creature Hall of Fame Kit, kids can create their own creeping, crawling, electronic pet. The hero invention is the Crawly Creature, which uses a servo motor to inch across the floor like a caterpillar. Kids can then remix the electronic building blocks in the kit to create a second invention: the Moving Collage. This interactive poster empowers kids to get silly and creative, using craft materials and magazine cut-outs to make a memorable piece of art. Once kids create the inventions in the box, it's time to use their imaginations, combining all their Bits & kits to create brand-new inventions. Bits, accessories, and instructions included.
- littleBits Bubble Bot Hall of Fame Kit: The Bubble Bot Hall of Fame Kit teaches kids how to build their own bubble blowing robot. Kids snap the electronic building blocks together, and use the included paper template to create an invention that lets them control how big their bubbles grow. The template is totally customizable, allowing kids to get creative. Is it a hot air balloon? Or maybe a pot-bellied pig blowing bubble gum! From there, kids remix the Bits to create a second invention: The Fan of Fortune. This game uses the fan Bit and a strategically placed arrow to peer into the future and answer any question kids ask. Bits, accessories, and instructions included.
- littleBits Night Light Hall of Fame Kit: With the Night Light Hall of Fame Kit, kids can create their own friendly light to brighten even the darkest night. The bargraph Bit, made of 5 multicolored LED lights, is sound-activated to work whenever kids are awake before bed or in stirring in the middle of the night. Little Edisons experimenting with light can then remix the invention and use the Bits in the kit to create a Megablaster wrist cuff, the invention that blasts imaginary powers wherever it's aimed. The slide dimmer Bit lets kids control just how much of their superpower of light gets sent into the universe. Bits, accessories, and instructions included.
- littleBits Arcade Game Hall of Fame Kit: The Arcade Game Hall of Fame Kit puts a new spin on an old arcade favorite: the pinball machine! This invention is powered by the servo motor Bit, plus a slide dimmer that allows kids to control how big of a whack they give a ball as they send it hurtling toward its goal. When the high score has been achieved, kids can then remix the invention using the same Bits to create a catapult and compete to see how far they can propel different objects. Bits, accessories, and instructions included.
Available as e-commerce exclusives beginning in May, kids ages 8 and up will be able to collect and combine, as all of the littleBits electronic blocks work together, in order to create even more epic inventions.
