Lithium Technologies CEO Rob Tarkoff to Speak at Fortune Brainstorm Tech 2015
SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lithium Technologies President and CEO Rob Tarkoff has been confirmed to speak on a panel at the upcoming Fortune Brainstorm Tech 2015 conference in Aspen, Colorado. Titled "The World According to Gen Y," this roundtable session will address the differences in creating media for millennials and how brands are tackling this, and will include executives from SoundCloud, Mic, Hearsay Social and The Levo League, with Fortune staff writer Erin Griffith moderating. This is Tarkoff's second year in a row as a panelist at Fortune Brainstorm Tech.
"Millennials came of age at one of the most exciting times in history, witnessing the growth of the Internet, the birth of the smartphone, and the advent of social networks," said Rob Tarkoff. "These digital natives consume information in different ways, shop and bank in different ways, and in general have higher demands on companies they choose to engage with. I'm excited to discuss how this impacts brands and society at Fortune Brainstorm Tech."
A 2014 study of more than 6,000 adults conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Lithium identified key differences between millennials and older generations, including:
- Younger consumers tend to visit more websites and conduct more research before making purchases than those aged 45 and older, indicative of a healthy skepticism
- Aware of the power of social networks to get what they want, younger consumers are more likely than those aged 45 and older to go online and complain about a product or service
- Younger consumers are much less likely to pick up the phone and contact customer service than their older counterparts, a result of their growing up in the digital age
The "World According to Gen Y" session will take place on Tuesday, July 14, at 1:45 pm MDT. The full conference agenda can be accessed here.
