Litera's Most Recent Patent Simplifies Content Comparison of Tables in Microsoft Word
MCLEANSVILLE, N.C., March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft Word users can now save time and reduce the risk of missing important content changes in busy table comparisons thanks to a newly issued patent, according to patent holder Litera Technologies LLC. The company has been awarded patent number 8,136,031 by the USPTO for its Intelligent Table Algorithm. Litera Corp. (www.litera.com) leverages this technology in its flagship Change-Pro TDC (Total Document Comparison) where the Intelligent Table Algorithm clarifies content changes made to merged or split cells within Microsoft Word tables. This after earning three patents* in 2011, all related to the science of document comparison, metadata cleaning and group collaboration.
"This newly patented feature of Change-Pro TDC eliminates the difficulty of clearly identifying otherwise ambiguous content changes when comparing Word tables that have undergone formatting changes," said Massand, Litera Corporation's president. "By focusing on actual content change and not table structure change, we improve the content comprehension and confidence as it relates to changes. This has been recognized by the U.S. Patent Office as a unique innovation and continues our introduction of technology improvements that distinguish Litera as a major innovator in document lifecycle management."
Litera's Intelligent Table Algorithm makes content comparison of multiple documents easier by comparing the text of a table's content—regardless of form and structure—enabling a display of the determined differences between the content of the tables. This method ignores structural changes and allows easy recognition of the true textual changes.
