Literacy Powerline Becomes Part of the National Center for Families Learning
HOUSTON, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At its 2015 Families Learning Summit, the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) announced today that Literacy Powerline will become part of its organization.
NCFL, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping adults and children learn together, creates and deploys innovative programs and strategies that support learning, literacy, and family engagement. It has worked for several years in partnership with Literacy Powerline, which leverages the power of linking stakeholders, neighborhoods, and services to increase literacy levels through coalition building.
Literacy Powerline and NCFL began partnering formally in 2013 by consolidating Literacy Powerline's National Conference on Coalitions and Community Literacy into NCFL's national summit, which deepened the event's content around community solutions and planning.
"NCFL and Literacy Powerline have a successful history of working collaboratively and in support of leveraging the power of families and communities to increase literacy and lifelong learning," said Sharon Darling, NCFL president and founder. "Today's announcement is a natural progression of that partnership. NCFL's mission and strategy encompass the lifespan — from early childhood to adults and parents — enveloping the varying approaches in community-driven literacy efforts."
All of Literacy Powerline's services will be offered through NCFL, which is expanding its team to include the expertise available through Literacy Powerline. Those services, such as the biweekly e-newsletter to literacy-related funding, Re$ourceLine, will be offered now by NCFL.
"This further enhances our ability to offer effective literacy solutions through coalition building to achieve collective impact," said Kimberly Scott, managing partner of Literacy Powerline. "Our communities will have better access to more resources that deliver customized services to meet their needs and goals."
Details on new community and coalition work will be announced later this year.
