WASHINGTON, Aug. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tune in now to AFGE's "Inside Government" to learn about the funding dispute at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The show, which originally aired on Friday, Aug. 5, is now available on demand.
AFGE FAA Local 200 President Bob Challender discussed Congress' dispute over FAA funding, which forced 4,000 FAA employees into furlough status and left 70,000 construction workers unemployed.
But first, AFGE National Vice President for Women's and Fair Practices Augusta Thomas previewed the union's Human Rights Training Conference, which will be held in Atlanta Aug. 8 – 11. Thomas also addressed her role as an advocate for middle class workers and their right to collectively bargain.
AFGE Political Action Committee Director Bob Nicklas went on to highlight a series of rallies planned nationwide to support middle class workers and public service. Nicklas also discussed the impact federal budget cuts will have on employees and the critical public services they provide. AFGE Local 1643 President James Glenn followed up that discussion with more analysis of the attack on federal employees. Glenn, who is currently working in Iraq with the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, offered his unique perspective and voiced concerns over pay and hiring freezes, as well as budget cuts.
