Liquid Church To Pack 200,000 Holiday Meals For Underprivileged New Jersey Families As Part Of Christmas Outreach Initiative
December 5th Event Will Have 2,000 Volunteers Serving in 8 Locations, Making it the Largest Christmas Outreach in Liquid Church History
MORRISTOWN, N.J., Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to serve an increasing number of New Jersey families in need this Christmas, Liquid Church, one of New Jersey's fastest growing Christian churches, has announced it will host a single-day Christmas Outreach event with 2,000 volunteers serving in 8 locations across 5 counties.
The largest Christmas Outreach in Liquid Church history, the event has 3 components. First, volunteers will work together to pack 200,000 meals for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to distribute this holiday season. Second, teams will select and wrap toys and gifts for more than 1,000 local children and their families to open together on Christmas morning. Third, volunteers are expected to donate hundreds of new or "nearly new" warm, winter coats to be distributed to those same families.
"We feel called to serve our neighbors in need and demonstrate Jesus Christ's compassion to the hungry and hurting. Serving others really is the heartbeat of our church," said Tim Lucas, lead pastor and founder of Liquid Church. "The need in our state is tremendous. New Jersey's homeless population increased by 15-percent last year, and studies show that 38-percent of New Jersey families struggle to meet basic needs. That's why we've stretched ourselves to make this the largest Christmas Outreach at Liquid Church."
Liquid Church's provision of 200,000 meals is its first step in meeting its recently announced goal to fund more than 1,000,000 meals for New Jersey's hungry and homeless over the next 2 years, through strategic partnerships with local social service agencies.
"We want to help transform lives in New Jersey by expanding our ministry partnerships with those agencies already serving our state's most vulnerable," added Lucas.
Liquid Church's 8 Christmas Outreach locations include Nutley in Essex County, Jersey City in Hudson County, Parsippany in Morris County, Hillsborough and Somerset in Somerset County, and Elizabeth, Garwood, and Mountainside in Union County.
The Christmas Outreach is a family event and children are welcome to serve alongside their parents. Additional volunteers are welcome and attendance at Liquid Church is not required. Details and volunteer registration forms may be found online at lqd.ch/christmasoutreach.
