Lions Clubs International Convention 2013: World's Largest NGO is Meeting in Hamburg
HAMBURG, Germany, July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
From 5 to 9 July 2013, around 25,000 guests from more than 200 countries are visiting the North-German city of Hamburg on the occasion of the 96th Annual Lions Clubs International Convention (LCIC). The world's largest non-governmental organisation (NGO) is thus hosting its major international meeting for the first time in Germany and for the third time in Europe.
For Hamburg, the LCIC 2013 is the largest congress hosted in the city to date. The North-German port city ranks among the most popular travel destinations for city breaks in Northern Europe. More than half of the 25,000 guests are coming from Germany, Japan, the US, China, and France.
One of the highlights is the colourful parade of the Lions nations, taking place on Saturday, 6 July around the Alster Lake in the heart of Hamburg. During this festive parade, around 12,000 Lions from all world regions are attiring in traditional dress to represent their countries of origin.
