Lionbridge Awarded Contract by Department of Homeland Security for Over the Phone Interpretation Services; Expects Contract to Generate Approximately $7 Million
WALTHAM, Mass., March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lionbridge (Nasdaq: LIOX), today announced that the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), US Citizenship and Immigration Services has selected Lionbridge as its provider for over-the-phone interpretation services. The contract includes one base year with four option years.
Working with Lionbridge will enable the US Department of Homeland Security to continue to effectively and efficiently communicate with individuals across a wide array of nationalities. Lionbridge secured the new contract based on its history of providing excellent service for DHS and its range of language expertise, including the ability to support many rare languages. DHS also relies on Lionbridge to provide qualified interpreters who have the necessary security clearances and language skills which is critical to the success of the DHS program.
With the agreement, Lionbridge will build on its existing DHS program and provide telephonic language interpretation services for aliens seeking asylum or protection from their countries during their interviews with asylum officers. Lionbridge will provide interpretation services in 24 required languages with the capability to expand into more than 190 languages as needed.
