IRVINE, Calif., June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Human resource professionals have traditionally been tasked to provide support for business initiatives. Today, that role has evolved and human resource professionals are required to fulfill an advanced function within management. Professionals must understand the connection between human resource strategies and business results in order to implement key tactics that directly contribute to an organization's success. The University of California, Irvine Extension is addressing this shift in the industry by offering, "Linking HR Strategy to Business Success," a new online course designed to help human resource professionals gain knowledge of basic business concepts and learn how effective human resource programs and program management supports an organization's goals. The course runs from June 29 to Sept. 6, with registration now open.
"In today's business atmosphere, we are observing that human resource professionals are increasingly being tapped to play bigger roles in business leadership," said Angela Jeantet, director of education and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. "Human resource professionals of all levels are expected to understand business plans and how human resource strategies and tactics support the overall goals of the business."
Taught by industry expert, Linda Marcot, president of LMC Human Capital Consulting, course participants will learn critical professional skills such as building a business case and "selling" ideas to management. Participants will learn how to heighten the role of human resources in strategic organizational leadership, identify strategies to drive success through human capital development, and implement effective organizational design for employee performance and business success.
"Linking HR Strategy to Business Success" is one of the required courses for the upcoming "Strategic Human Resources Leadership Specialized Studies" program. Launching this fall, this specialized studies program provides an intensive examination of the scope of demand placed on human resource leadership, and the marriage of strategic and tactical human resource practices.
