LinkedIn Squashes LinkedAero.com and Demands Company Name Change
Internet Giant Forces Private Company Rebrand
BOCA RATON, Fla., Aug. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LinkedAero.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of PartsBase, Inc. was contacted directly by corporate counsel representing LinkedIn, a Microsoft Corporation, demanding the discontinuation of the LinkedAero company name, URL and logo structure due to concerns over customer confusion.
LinkedAero is maintained and operated by PartsBase, Inc. Founded in 1996, PartsBase is a United States-based online marketplace, functioning as a business-to-business parts locator service for the aviation, aerospace and defense industries. At present time, PartsBase has 7,500 member companies, including Airbus, Boeing, Aviall, Bombardier, Lufthansa Group, AAR, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell and Delta TechOps, conducting transactions in over 194 countries.
LinkedAero was developed to provide information to PartsBase members, as well as the rest of the aviation industry, creating a focused networking opportunity for the community. The platform aims to grow the aerospace community as well as offer advanced profiles for PartsBase members and companies transacting with aerospace businesses across a growing worldwide market. LinkedAero includes enriched content such as videos, images, articles and provides a voice for the aerospace community to educate and reach more customers.
"LinkedAero was not designed to compete with LinkedIn," says Greg Schmidt, President of PartsBase. "Our members have a thirst for more information and LinkedAero aims to offer the exact information our customers are seeking on a daily basis. We feel this is yet another example of large internet players trying to control the future with attempts to keep it in the hands of only a few big names. Our belief in this platform and our commitment to our customers is more important than the distraction of legal battles and wasting resources."
PartsBase has begun a rebranding process for the platform's name, URL and logo. Members of the aviation community can still become members of LinkedAero by signing up for free on the website. The official launch of the rebranded site is slated for the end of summer 2017.
