Lindquist & Vennum Leads the "Green Law Office" Charge in Colorado
Firm Recognized by American Bar Association and Environmental Protection Agency
DENVER, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lindquist & Vennum PLLP announces that through its participation in the American Bar Association (ABA) – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Law Office Climate Challenge (Climate Challenge), it has achieved highest standings awarded to law offices participating in the Climate Challenge. The firm has adopted the ABA-EPA best practices for office paper management and satisfied each of the voluntary partnership programs set forth by the EPA, designed to encourage law offices to take specific steps to conserve energy and resources, as well as reduce emissions of greenhouse gases—and other pollutants. Out of 250 participating law offices, Lindquist & Vennum is one of just seven firms in the U.S. and one of two law offices in Colorado to achieve Law Office Climate Challenge Partner or Leader status in each of four voluntary programs.
Dennis O'Malley, Managing Partner and member of the firm's Sustainable Practices Committee, remarks on the firm's involvement in the Climate Challenge: "Lindquist & Vennum's adoption of sustainable practices and achievements in the ABA–EPA Law Office Climate Challenge programs reflects our values—and those of our clients—as well as our commitment to the environment."
In late 2009, Lindquist & Vennum established a Sustainable Practices Committee to develop, promote and implement sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices within the firm. The firm accepted the ABA-EPA Climate Challenge and in June 2010 achieved its first "green" milestone—being named an ABA-EPA Climate Challenge Partner for achievements in office paper management. Through participation in the EPA's voluntary WasteWise and ENERGY STAR® programs, and by purchasing renewable energy credits equal to 100% of the firm's traditional energy consumption for a period of three years, Lindquist & Vennum achieved Climate Challenge Leader status in January 2011.
