A long-time supporter of United Way, Linde added the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association to its annual Linde Cares campaign in 2008. For the 2013 Linde Cares campaign, employees raised over $240,000 which, combined with Linde's corporate match, brought the grand total to $480,000. In addition, Linde and its employees also contributed $43,000 to the American Red Cross for the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines and the Oklahoma tornadoes.
At the presentation reception at Linde North America headquarters in Murray Hill, New Jersey, Pat Murphy, president of the Americas for Linde, presented donations to James W. Horne, president/CEO United Way-Union County and Christy Hodde, community chapter executive, American Red Cross New Jersey Crossroads.
"I am delighted to present these organizations with their portion of the 2013 contributions which represent the continued generosity of Linde employees," Murphy said. "I am very proud to be associated with such a selfless group of people."
United Way's Horne said, "We use these funds to serve families in need. Linde's support is critical as we touch the lives of so many children and their parents by providing emergency relief when they need it most. We support and work with organizations that have a direct impact on communities with high poverty and high unemployment rates. We are very thankful for the continued support and volunteer efforts by Linde employees."
During the year, Linde employees also donated thousands of hours of their own time to support the activities of these charities. "This is another clear demonstration of their keen awareness of the life-sustaining support these charities provide," said Stan Borowiec vice president, product management for Linde North America and chairman of the 2013 Linde Cares campaign.
"The American Red Cross is grateful to Linde North America and its employees for their compassionate support to assist those affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes and the typhoon in the Philippines," said Hodde. "Through their generosity, the Red Cross is able to help provide relief from these devastating disasters."
