Linda Millis Joins AFCEA International As Vice President For Industry Programs

FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AFCEA International is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Linda Millis as Vice President for Industry Programs. In this capacity, she will manage all of AFCEA's corporate member activities, including growing the corporate membership program and finding innovative ways to improve corporate member retention. She will also oversee the Small Business and Marketing and Public Relations departments.

Previously, Ms. Millis was the Director of Private Sector Partnerships for the Director of National Intelligence and developed several creative programs that promoted information and expertise sharing between the intelligence community and the private sector. Ms. Millis has nearly three decades of experience with national and homeland security issues, including WMD threat assessment, intelligence analysis, intelligence program management, domestic preparedness for bioterrorism threats, tracking the financial assets of terrorists, and protecting critical infrastructure. Her career spans both the public and private sector, and she has effectively integrated the business community into intelligence and homeland security work.

A veteran of the intelligence community, she has held senior positions at the National Security Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, the Intelligence Community Management Staff, as well as at the White House, where she served on the staff of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and the Congressionally-mandated Aspin Brown Commission on the Roles and Capabilities of the Intelligence Community. In addition to her public service, Ms. Millis has worked extensively with the business community on homeland security and intelligence issues. As the Vice President for Policy at Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a non-profit organization, she created an innovative homeland security partnership between business and government in New Jersey which was embraced by the White House as a model for the rest of the nation.  Her work as Director of the National Security Task Force at Markle Foundation was included in legislative and policy documents. Ms. Millis was also a Principal at PRTM, a management consulting firm that identified and implemented best business practices for intelligence and military clients.

Ms. Millis is the recipient of many government awards including the National Intelligence Achievement Medal. She is a frequent public speaker and has testified before congressional commissions and appeared on public radio and national television. She is also an adjunct faculty member for the Biodefense graduate program at George Mason University. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
