"We are very pleased to have Linda Figg as the first woman ever to ascend to the Chairmanship of CIRT," commented Mark A. Casso, CIRT's President. "Linda will serve as a role model and inspiration to countless women in our industry and through her strong leadership skills and charismatic personality she will garner support across our community," noted Mr. Casso.
Commenting on her election, Figg said, "CIRT has a distinguished history as a forum for CEO's in our industry to share insights on best practices, industry trends, as well as business planning and management. Now more than ever, as we face uncertain economic times and great challenges in our industry – we will find our voices in CIRT to call for a renewed commitment to the principles of a strong market system, reliance on private sector job creation, open competition, and faith in our entrepreneurial spirit. These are the principles that made America great -- and should be the hallmarks of our future."
Bridges designed by FIGG are purposeful works of art, functional sculptures within the landscape, that are created through a careful analysis of the site, contextual and environmental sensitivity, and a regional approach that encompasses a community's particular needs, as well as the realities of funding and maintenance. FIGG's exclusive focus on bridge design and construction engineering inspection enables them to provide state of the art technology, innovative aesthetics and materials, and a unique capacity to partner for research.
CIRT is a national business trade association comprised of approximately 100 CEOs from the leading design / construction companies doing business in the United States. CIRT's member firms directly employ over 500,000 individuals, and are responsible for more than $115 billion in public and private infrastructure work that contributes to an improved quality of life for all Americans.
Linda Figg has served in many key capacities within CIRT including Vice Chairman over the last several years. Also named as officers of the Construction Industry Round Table were Robert E. Alger (Chairman & CEO, The Lane Construction Corp.) as Vice Chairman; and Patrick MacLeamy (CEO, HOK Group) as Treasurer. In addition, Matthew M. Walsh (Chairman & CEO, The Walsh Group, Chicago, IL) will continue on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chairman.
