Linda D. Bensel-Meyers, Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who
DENVER, Oct. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Linda D. Bensel-Meyers, Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Education. Dr. Bensel-Meyers is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Denver and Secretary General for the International Society for the History of Rhetoric.
At the University of Denver, their mission is to prepare students to be global citizens serving the Public Good, focusing on the importance of a liberal arts education for developing a student's ethical and humane character.
Garnering thirty years of experience studying Shakespearean literature, Dr. Bensel-Meyers has been teaching at the University of Denver for thirteen years. In this capacity, she specializes in university teaching in the areas of history and interpretation behind Shakespeare and his works. Prior to taking the position at the University of Denver, Dr. Bensel-Meyers was Director of Writing Programs at the University of Tennessee for fifteen years, leaving for the University of Denver after uncovering 'institutionalized plagiarism' within UT's football program.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Bensel-Meyers serves as the Secretary General for the International Society for the History of Rhetoric and is a volunteer teacher for the International Shakespeare Association. She is an esteemed member of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Renaissance Society of America, Rhetoric Society of America, American Civil Liberties Union and the American Association of University Professors. She has also served as a Past-President and Founding Member of The Drake Group, a national organization of faculty seeking to restore access to an education for collegiate athletes.
Outside of work, she is a professional pianist and organist and judges for local public school Shakespeare competitions.
Heavily knowledgeable in her line of work, Dr. Bensel-Meyers earned both her Ph.D., and Master of Arts in Renaissance Drama and Rhetoric from the University of Oregon. Prior to her graduate and doctoral studies, Dr. Bensel-Meyers began her educational career with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Dramatic Theory from the University of Chicago.
