Lincoln Memorial stages one of the nation's largest Easter Sunrise services, with over 6000 in attendance each year
WASHINGTON, March 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A Washington Tradition for 35 years – On Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2013, over 6000 people will gather at the Lincoln Memorial for one of the nation's largest Sunrise Services, hosted by Capital Church of Vienna, Virginia, Pastor Amos Dodge.
At 6:30am, as the sun begins to rise over the Capitol dome, the mall will ring with sounds of celebration as Pastor Dodge leads those in attendance, in the hope-filled proclamation and celebration of Easter's message.
"This is not an event we sponsor but an assignment we have to our city, nation and world," says Pastor Dodge. "To joyfully, powerfully and boldly proclaim that 'Jesus Christ is Risen!'"
The annual interdenominational service will include live orchestra, choir and worship.
Those attending are encouraged to dress comfortably. A coat or a blanket is suggested for the often brisk morning. Directed parking provided.
