LIM College Opens Registration for 2017 Summer Fashion Lab
Programs available for middle school, high school and visiting college students
NEW YORK, March 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LIM College, which is located in New York City and focused exclusively on the study of business and fashion, has announced that registration is now open for its 2017 Summer Fashion Lab program for high school and visiting college students. A one-week program exclusively for students ages 11-13 is also available this year.
LIM College expects to enroll a record-setting 400+ students in its 2017 Summer Fashion Lab programs. Last year, young people came from all corners of the globe — including the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and Washington State — to participate.
High school and visiting college students
New one-week offerings include a hands-on workshop on sustainability in the fashion business, courses in global fashion marketing and 3D drawing, and a class called "The Fashion Editor's Eye," where participants assume the duties of a fashion editor, including laying out fashion editorials and promoting them online.
One-week courses will also be available in areas that include fashion styling (with the chance to work on a photo shoot), fashion blogging, public relations, event planning, fashion forecasting, buying, and social media marketing. A complete schedule and course descriptions are available on LIM's website.
Summer Fashion Lab will run for four weeks — the week of June 26-30 and July 10-14, 17-21 and 24-28. Tuition for non-credit courses is $200 per course, or $350 for two non-credit courses when registering for both at the same time. Courses that offer one college elective credit are $350 each. Participants eligible for credit may earn a maximum of three credits over the course of the four weeks.
Housing for high school and visiting college students taking part in Summer Fashion Lab is available in LIM's residence hall on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The cost for housing is $495 per week. The residence hall has staff on duty around the clock and features air-conditioned double and triple rooms with private bathrooms. Students who stay in the residence hall can also take part in activities such as New York City sightseeing tours and outings to Broadway shows.
Middle school students (ages 11-13)
For just $350, during the week of July 10-14, students ages 11-13 can participate in a special fashion education program geared to their age group. It will include workshops, a guest speaker, a fashion-related field trip, and presentations on topics such as merchandising, buying, visual merchandising and styling.
