SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Postgres Vision 2016 will host a competition to unearth creative new uses of Postgres. The Postgres Vision Lightning Talks will be a friendly competition to celebrate innovation and creative problem solving with Postgres. The competition will take place on October 13, 2016, at the Innovation Hangar (iHangar), San Francisco.
The Lightning Talks will illustrate Postgres capabilities and application scenarios, and demonstrate novel ways developers use Postgres to move data across enterprise networks. Most importantly, the Lighting Talks will give individuals with unique and innovative ideas an opportunity to showcase their ingenuity.

Five Lightning Talk submissions will be selected to present during a breakout session on Thursday, October 13, 1:00pm-2:00pm. Lightning Talks will be judged according to their originality and feasibility by a panel of Postgres technologists and business users. The prize is an DJI Phantom 3 4K Video Drone. The winner will be announced during the closing remarks of Postgres Vision on Thursday, 2:45pm-3:00pm.
Dave Page, Vice President, Chief Architect, Tools and Installers, EnterpriseDB (EDB) and PostgreSQL Global Development Group Core Team member, will host the Postgres Lightning Talks. Page manages the development of EDB's suites of tools that support database administrators in using EDB Postgres, and he oversees the development of installers and packages for all EDB products. He joined EDB in 2007 and has been influential in the development of critical database management tools.
Page has been working with PostgreSQL since 1998 and is one of six members of the open source project's Core Team. He is also project lead for pgAdmin, the leading graphical Open Source management, development, and administration tool for PostgreSQL. pgAdmin was recently completely rewritten and released as pgAdmin 4 as well as bundled with PostgreSQL 9.6 in EDB's installers.
