"This is a historic time for the telecoms industry. Service producer executives and operators are tasked with defining the industry, which is no simple task. Service providers are investing in their networks at levels not seen since the turn of the century and are expected to create holistic networking strategies that balance network requirements, service proficiencies and financial metrics. We're bringing the leading minds in the industry together to help guide them in their decision making," said Stephen Saunders, Founder and CEO of Light Reading. "Our inaugural event was tremendously successful. More than 1,500 attendees from across the world, 60% of which were service providers, attended. Building on our success, this year's event is going to be extraordinary. We're tripling the size of our demo hall and education program and adding more of the fun activities we're famous for."
The Big Telecom Event will offer a plethora of education opportunities, including pre-event workshops hosted by the Open Networking Foundation, SDN Essentials and ATIS starting on Monday, June 8.
BTE will offer a two-day, four-track conference covering key topics in the industry, including the Internet of Things, network security, next-gen data networking and virtualization.
Additionally, the event will offer two dedicated tracks – the Video Summit and the Data Center Interconnect Summit.
- The Video Summit (http://www.bigtelecomevent.com/d/6rqjk6/7K?cpc=FYNPT3G3F6V&RefID=MFPR2.10) will take an in-depth look at the compelling issues in the world of video content delivery, where massive change is underway. In a series of panel discussions, Light Reading's Cable/Video Practice Leader Alan Breznick and leaders from the cable and satellite TV industries, the OTT world and elsewhere in the video realm will offer a lively discussion of the critical factors influencing the future of the video content market. The Summit will take place on Tuesday, June 9 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
- The combination of cloud computing, content distribution, virtualization and the explosion in video traffic are making data center interconnection critical to network strategy. The Data Center Interconnect Summit (http://www.bigtelecomevent.com/d/6rqjk6/8K?cpc=X6N9VTTQFSM&RefID=MFPR2.10) brings together Heavy Reading's Sterling Perrin and Roz Roseboro, and Light Reading's Tim Downs and Carol Wilson as well as leaders from the packet-optical transport, interconnect and cloud communities to discuss the critical issues affecting network operators. The Summit will take place Wednesday, June 10 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
