Lifescript Launches New Online Asthma Health Center
Lifescript's asthma health center is designed to help women and children diagnose and manage asthma symptoms
MISSION VIEJO, Calif., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifescript.com, a women's health and wellness website headquartered in Mission Viejo, Calif., has launched a new online Asthma Health Center designed to help women and children diagnose and manage asthma symptoms.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 18.7 million American adults and 7 million children have asthma, a chronic condition that makes it hard to breathe from inflammation in the lungs and airways. Nearly 3,500 deaths occur each year from asthma, and women are hardest hit, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.
"Fortunately, with medication and modest environmental controls, most asthma patients can manage and control the condition," says Edward Geehr, M.D., Lifescript Chief Medical Officer. "Learning to monitor symptoms and identify triggers is key."
Lifescript's Asthma Health Center follows new breakthroughs in research and offers articles on the connection between allergies and asthma, common asthma triggers, how to avoid "heavy breathing" during sex, and much more. It also features tips for raising asthmatic children, including helping them sleep through nighttime wheezing and making sure they have the proper medication at school.
"With so many women suffering from asthma, or raising children who do, our online center is a great resource for tips and support," says Lifescript Editor-in-Chief Laurie Berger.
The Asthma Health Center is one of 66 health centers on the site. Lifescript Health Centers are designed to help women live healthier lives with medically reviewed articles, expert interviews, lifestyle tips, quizzes, recipes and more.
