LifeBEAM Bio-Sensing Technology Embedded in the New Simband Reference Design
LifeBEAM's proprietary algorithms enable users to more accurately measure heart rate, calories, steps and more during sports and daily activities
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeBEAM, a developer of bio-sensing technology, announced today that the company's bio-sensing algorithms are embedded in the new Samsung Simband, reference design platform for wearable devices. The technology will allow Simband reference design users to more accurately measure heart rate, calories, steps and more directly from their wrist. The partnership between LifeBEAM and Samsung was revealed today at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco.
"Samsung is an innovative company with a vision to power the next wave of bio-sensing applications, and we see the company as one of our most strategic partners in bringing LifeBEAM technology to the consumer market," said Omri Yoffe, CEO of LifeBEAM. "During our collaboration on the Simband project, we've found a valuable synergy between our core capabilities and Samsung's portfolio of wearable devices. Together, we're giving consumers the ability to collect, integrate, display and communicate accurate biometrics in real-time. The wide range of applications in sports, health and medicine are very exciting."
LifeBEAM collaborated with the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center (SSIC) to embed its bio-sensing technology in the Simband platform. Application developers will be able to leverage LifeBEAM's bio-sensing algorithms using the Samsung SAMIIO software platform, a cloud-based open software platform capable of bringing together diverse data from a variety of sources for analysis. An SDK for the SAMIIO platform was made available on November 12 at the Samsung Developer Conference.
