Life Wireless's 'Connecting Our Heroes' program provides 100 extra minutes of calling time to eligible military veterans
COVINGTON, Ga., July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Wireless™, a cellular provider offering free phone service to income-eligible customers through the federal Lifeline program, is now providing 100 additional minutes of calling time each month for eligible U.S. military veterans through the company's "Connecting Our Heroes" program.
"We are proud to be able to give back to the men and women who have served our country," said William Curry, principal of Life Wireless. "The 'Connecting Our Heroes' program is our way of saying 'thanks' for all they've done. As the son of a disabled Air Force veteran I understand the sacrifices made by those in our military."
Life Wireless provides 250 minutes of calling time each month for customers who meet Lifeline program income requirements. The cost is covered by the Lifeline program. Customers who are military veterans must provide a VA benefit card or military ID at time of enrollment to receive an additional 100 minutes of calling time, bringing their monthly total to 350 minutes.
"Life Wireless is committed to helping our veterans," Curry said. "This year, we began hiring veterans through the U.S Chamber of Commerce's 'Hiring Our Heroes' initiative as well as the Goodwill of North Georgia's First Choice Veterans employment program. The people we've hired have been fantastic additions to our team."
The Lifeline program was created by Congress in 1985 to help ensure that all Americans have access to quality telephone service and the security and opportunities that it affords. Lifeline service helps people stay in touch with loved ones, make medical appointments, contact potential employers, and call 911 in emergencies.
