Life Wireless provides 100 extra minutes of calling time to Midwest tornado victims
Leading Lifeline carrier helps customers affected by Nov. 18 storms in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky
COVINGTON, Ga., Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Wireless™, a cellular provider offering free phone service through the federal Lifeline program, is providing 100 extra minutes at no charge to customers in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky who were affected by tornadoes that touched down in those states on Nov. 18.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by these devastating storms," said Brian Lisle, president of Life Wireless. "The cell phone service we provide will help these families as they embark on the difficult task of rebuilding their lives."
Life Wireless has a history of helping communities following natural disasters. In recent years, the company has provided assistance to families affected by flooding in Minnesota and tornadoes in Oklahoma. The company also donated to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
The Lifeline program helps low-income families obtain the phone service they need to stay connected to loved ones, make medical appointments, contact potential employers, and call 911 in an emergency.
To be eligible for the Lifeline program, customers must meet certain income requirements or take part in a federal assistance program, such as Medicaid or Food Stamps. Customers may not receive service from more than one Lifeline carrier at the same time.
