Life Wireless Makes Donation to Empty Stocking Fund

Contribution helps provide Christmas gifts to needy children

COVINGTON, Ga., Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Wireless™, a cellular provider offering free cellphone service to income-eligible customers through the federal Lifeline program, has donated $5,000 to the Empty Stocking Fund to help spread holiday cheer to needy families.

It's the fourth year in a row that Life Wireless has made a contribution to the Empty Stocking Fund, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that provides children's Christmas gifts to low-income families.

Since 2011, Life Wireless has also worked with the Empty Stocking Fund to provide free Lifeline phone service to about 8,000 low-income families throughout the metro Atlanta area. Life Wireless offers a vital communications link to those most in need so they can stay connected to family members, medical providers, employers and emergency services.

Georgia residents are eligible for the Lifeline program if they take part in a federal assistance program, such as Medicaid or Food Stamps, or have an income that is at or below 135 percent of the federal poverty level. Eligible Life Wireless customers receive a basic mobile handset with voicemail, text messaging and call waiting. Calling plans offer up to 250 minutes a month.
