CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: LIFE) has appointed Carol Cox as senior vice president of the newly created External Affairs & Corporate Communications organization. In her new role, Cox will spearhead the company's global strategies that drive awareness of Life's major initiatives and uphold its solid corporate reputation across multiple stakeholder groups, including shareholders, media reporters, government officials and customers.
Cox has served as vice president of Investor Relations since December 2011 when she joined Life Technologies after more than 20 years of experience at other leading corporations in the medical device and pharmaceutical fields. As the primary contact for 24 Wall Street analysts and shareholders, she has developed successful global programs and strategies to promote the company to security analysts, institutional investors and individual shareholders.

She also served as senior vice president of Global Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Barr Pharmaceuticals for 13 years, where her team received several awards from Institutional Investor magazine for outstanding performance. Cox holds a bachelor's of arts degree in International Relations from the University of Virginia.
