Life Industry Veteran Joseph W. Jordan to Debut "Living a Life of Significance" Book at The American College Knowledge Summit in Las Vegas
BRYN MAWR, Pa., May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The life of an American financial services leader is the focus of Living a Life of Significance, a new book written by Joseph W. Jordan, Senior Vice President, MetLife. Based on more than 30 years of personal experience, Jordan shares his observations on the fundamental changes of the financial services industry; its effect on his own personal journey of discovery; and its impact on how financial professionals today engage and inspire others to act with the best of intentions on behalf of their clients. The book will debut at The American College's Knowledge Summit in Las Vegas, June 9 – 11.
Jordan is an industry-renowned thought leader and celebrated speaker in the areas of behavioral finance, client-centric tools, ethical selling and client advocacy. He helps financial professionals around the world recognize and celebrate the intrinsic value that they deliver to their clients. Jordan started his career with Home Life in 1974, and was named "Rookie of the Year" and became a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) the following year. He ran insurance sales at Paine Webber from 1981 – 1988. He joined MetLife in 1988 to manage annuity, and later life, sales and product development. He is currently responsible for MetLife's Behavioral Finance Strategies.
Jordan explains, "We can provide peace of mind to families when their loved ones die prematurely. We can provide people with a worry-free retirement, with an income they can't outlive, so they can maintain their independence. We can protect that income if they get sick so they maintain their dignity. And, we can provide a legacy when they die. I believe this book will help my fellow professionals come to the realization that ours is a vocation not simply a profession."
This is the first book written for The American College Press by an industry professional outside of the institution's own faculty members. The book's inspirational message was one of the important factors that led to its publication.
In reflecting on Living a Life of Significance, American College President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Barton stated: "This book is truly an eye-opener. Through it, readers will come to understand that an insurance claim is more than a financial transaction, it is a source of fulfillment for the dedicated men and women of our industry who care about their clients, create financial security and protect families' dreams and aspirations."
Initial copies of the book will be provided at no charge to attendees of The American College Knowledge Summit and Commencement in June where Jordan will be a featured presenter. Following his presentation, Jordan will be available to sign personalized copies of Living a Life of Significance. Individuals who cannot attend The Knowledge Summit can order a copy of the book for $14.99, plus shipping, by contacting The American College Alumni Association at 610-526-1477 or [email protected]. All proceeds from the book sales will go to The American College.
