WASHINGTON, March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Since the inception of ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer's co-pay assistance and education program, more than 42,000 men and families have received the gift of more time with loved ones through life-extending treatments. In partnership with Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation, the fund has provided more than $150M in financial assistance to men with advanced prostate cancer.
Charles Sweeney, an advanced prostate cancer patient and recipient of ZERO's co-pay assistance program said, "I'm thankful beyond words for the financial assistance form ZERO. Now I have the gift of time to spend with my three young grandchildren who I never believed I would see grow up."
The partnership and program began in 2013, assisting patients with metastatic, castration-resistant prostate cancer. The program utilizes the PAN Foundation's existing financial assistance program and ZERO's comprehensive educational resources for patients and caregivers. In 2015, the co-pay fund expanded to cover non-metastatic advanced prostate cancer, and helped more than 17,000 men with more than $78M in funds.
"Providing all prostate cancer patients access to the treatments and education they need is essential in the fight to end the disease," said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. "Our patient co-pay assistance program is one of very few resources currently serving this critical need in the prostate cancer community."
"The PAN Foundation's collaboration with ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer has enabled us to provide men living with prostate cancer support beyond co-payment assistance," said PAN Foundation President and CEO Dan Klein. "It's allowed us to connect these men with a compassionate community and resources that address the physical and emotional complexities of prostate cancer."
