Life Cycle Assessment Confirms G-OIL®
Reduces Carbon Footprint
All G-OIL Products Tested Superior to their Conventional Alternatives
CELEBRATION, Fla., April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- An independent life cycle assessment comparing G-OIL, a consumer brand of Green Earth Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GETG), to conventional motor oils confirms a significant reduction in environmental impacts.

The study conducted by Intertek Expert Services, a leading provider of industry analysis and environmental impacts, found that the 5W-30 G-OIL Bio-based Advanced Full Synthetic Green Motor Oil had a carbon footprint of about two thirds (67.3%) less than the conventional 5W-30 oil.
"Replacing just 1% of conventional motor oil with G-OIL would save around 137 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year, or the equivalent of planting 2.8 million trees," said Jeffrey Loch, President and CMO of Green Earth Technologies. "The sustainability advantages of G-OIL products are the fundamental result of our use of renewable, non-fossil based resources."
Consumers need not worry about compromising performance. "Even at the extremes in NASCAR competition, G-OIL delivers without compromising engine performance," said Mark Smith, President of Pro Motor Engines, a leading NASCAR engine builder. "The key measures of racing motor oils are horsepower and engine wear. We put G-OIL to the test on our PME 'dynos' and on the track. We saw that running our NASCAR engines on G-OIL produced more power and reduced engine wear in back-to-back tests against the top competitors."
According to the Intertek study, the G-OIL products, including Bar & Chain Oil and 2-Cycle Bio-Synthetic Green Engine Oil had a 29-67% lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) and a 38-76% lower abiotic[1] resource depletion compared to their conventional alternatives.
The reduction of petroleum produced lubrication oil by replacing 1.0 % of conventional motor oil with synthetic G-Oil is 5,152,000 gallons per year. [2]
In addition to the sustainability advantages of G-OIL products versus their conventional counterparts, these products also satisfy the new USDA BioPreferred® labeling product that states that a product must meet a minimum required level of bio-content to display the mark.
Bio-based products are those composed wholly or significantly of agricultural ingredients – renewable plant, animal, marine or forestry materials. The Secretary of Agriculture has designated bio-based products for preferred purchasing by Federal Agencies and the President of the United States' Presidential Memorandum on February 12th, 2012 supports "driving innovation and creating jobs in rural America through bio-based and sustainable product procurement."
An LCA provides an analysis of the environmental impacts of each lifecycle stage of a product from the extraction of raw materials to the disposal of generated waste through landfill and incineration. The study provided a "cradle to grave" assessment and therefore includes the lifecycle impacts of raw material planting, harvesting, cattle farming or extraction all the way to consumer consumption, recycle and/or disposal of the base oils. Consumers can choose to close the loop by recycling.
