LIDS Foundation Named as First National Title Sponsor of Step Forward to Cure TSC®

SILVER SPRING, Md., May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TS Alliance) recently announced LIDS Foundation as the first-ever national title sponsor of its Step Forward to Cure TSC walk program, which will now be called LIDS Step Forward to Cure TSC.  These walks take place in more than 30 locations across the country, raising an average of $1 million each year to help fund research about tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and provide a wide array of support services for anyone affected by the disease.

TSC is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in vital organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, skin and lungs.  It is also the leading genetic cause of both autism and epilepsy.  TSC is as common as Lou Gehrig's disease or cystic fibrosis but is virtually unknown by the general population.  About 50,000 people in the United States have TSC, with 1 million world wide. Currently, there is no cure.
