In the tradition of their "Fish Stories" themed shows, Lick the Plate celebrates deer hunting season by talking restaurants, music and venison with Bath, Michigan based Charlie Fanta from Fanta Taxidermy.
DETROIT, Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lick the Plate on 93.9 The River where the Detroit, Windsor, and northern Michigan culinary and music communities tell their stories, is celebrating one of the biggest hunting seasons in the country with over 600,000 + licenses issued. Lick the Plate host David Boylan, a former hunter himself, wanted to recognize this happening with a guest who is immersed in the hunting culture and Charlie Fanta from Fanta Taxidermy fit that bill perfectly. Fanta has won numerous awards for his taxidermy work is also a fine artist and has cooked his fare share of venison. He shares some of his favorite ways to prepare venison along with the typical Lick the Plate topics that include food, favorite restaurants and music.
The show was recorded at Fanta's workshop/studio in Bath, Michigan where Charlie does his taxidermy and creates his fine art that is equally impressive.
Host David Boylan has had several "Fish Stories" shows on his weekly Lick the Plate series on 93.9 The River and in San Diego so featuring Michigan deer hunting on the show was a natural extension of that. "I'm a big fan of wild game and venison in particular. I knew Charlie was a good cook and a very talented taxidermist and accomplished artist so he was the perfect guest for this week of shows. He features several ways to prepare venison in each episode plus some fun conversation about food, restaurants and music. We recorded in Charlie's studio over some of his home brew beer and that was a treat."
Charlie Fanta from Fanta Taxidermy and Oil Paintings by Charlie Fanta was all for sharing his story on Lick the Plate. "I'm a big fan of 93.9 The River and Lick the Plate, so when David approached me about this about this it sounded like a fun thing to do and a great way to promote my business. Besides our conversation about cooking venison, I enjoyed sharing some concert memories I've had the good fortune to experience over the years."
