Lick The Plate Lands on San Diego's Sports Leader The Mighty 1090 XEPRS-AM
The popular culinary feature joins its fourth radio station in four markets in addition to print and digital distribution and will feature a sports episode to complement its culinary and music mix
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lick the Plate, the original culinary and music feature that launched in San Diego in 2011 and now airs in Detroit, Michigan, Windsor, Ontario, and Traverse City, Michigan, is back on the air in San Diego on The Mighty 1090 starting Monday, January 7, 2019. Besides its popular blend of food and music conversation, Lick the Plate host David Boylan is adding in an episode that will incorporate sports into that mix.
Boylan, who hails from Detroit and spends considerable time there, is an avid sports fan, runner and surfer. Having lived through the highs and lows of Detroit sports over the years, he still makes it a point to attend a Detroit Lions road game every year. This year it's Buffalo, New York to watch the Lions play the Bills on December 16. He explains the trip this way: "I know it sounds crazy, but some friends from Michigan and I wanted a winter outdoor NFL football experience and December in Buffalo should provide that. And of course we are going to explore the food and music scene - that's what Lick the Plate is all about."
It's that mix of food, restaurants, music and sports that has always been a big part of his life and why he is so excited about bringing the show to The Mighty 1090. "I honestly think that an interest in food, music, and sports is inherent in everyone to varying degrees. Foodies, music heads, and sports fans are morphing and a prime example of that is the variety of food now found at most stadiums and the music that has been integrated into the sports experience during warm-ups, time-outs, and halftime shows. And let's face it, even foodies that don't consider themselves sports fans can get caught up in the excitement of their hometown team on a hot streak, the energy of baseball season on opening day, or an MVP caliber player in their town. We all have memories of great moments in sports history, favorite athletes, a family bonding experience over sports or even just a uniform we really like. It's a great mix and bringing it to Lick the Plate is a natural progression for the show. Besides that, I'm really looking forward to including professional athletes from a wide variety of sports as guests. Another bonus is being on the station that broadcasts The Los Angeles Rams."
Mike Shepard, Vice President of Programming and Operations at Broadcast Company of the Americas, parent company to The Mighty 1090 was equally enthusiastic. "I've been a big fan of Lick the Plate and have followed it closely over the years. Bringing a sports element to the show makes sense on many levels and we are excited to add this innovative content to our programming mix."
Lick the Plate on The Mighty 1090 will air Monday – Friday during the first commercial break at 7pm and 10pm and can also be found on the station's website as a podcast.
