SAN DIEGO, Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Lick the Plate is the original culinary and music feature that launched in San Diego in 2011 and has expanded to Detroit, Michigan, Windsor, Ontario, and Traverse City, Michigan. This week host David Boylan features an interview with renowned chef and restaurateur Drew Deckman from Deckman's en el Magor, located in the heart of Baja California wine country in Valle De Guadalupe that will air in all four markets. Deckman's was also featured in Boylan's weekly Lick the Plate Coast News column in Encinitas, California.
Boylan, whose son Quinn Boylan lives in Tijuana, Mexico and was the tour guide for the trip, was blown away by the stunning beauty of Valle de Guadalupe and the world-class dining experience at Deckman's. He had this to say about the experience: "Everything about this trip was amazing, the valley itself is spectacular, from the vineyards to the unique architecture to Deckman's, which was one of the most unique restaurant settings I've ever encountered. The term farm to table is not some marketing jargon at Deckman's. They are literally surrounded by the farms and ports that provide a very high percentage of ingredients, not to mention the wine. The indoor-outdoor structure itself is amazing and the outdoor, wood-fueled kitchen is a sight to behold. The scent of burning wood, cooking quail and other such culinary delights is almost overwhelming in the best possible way."
Boylan was equally impressed by the approachable nature of chef/owner Drew Deckman, who grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia. He completed a degree in philosophy from Rhodes College began a journey that took him all over Europe. That journey included working with some of the biggest names in the culinary world, and earned him a coveted Michelin star for his work in Restaurant Vitus in Germany. Boylan added, "On top of the world-class culinary experience, Drew Deckman is just a really nice guy. I was immediately charmed by his approachability and sense of humor. It was a treat talking to him about his favorite food, restaurants and music."
